Well+Good Wellness Trends to watch in 2019

Each year, Well + Good, a news publication devoted to the wellness scene, publishes its top wellness trends.  Among the 14 trends Well+ Good predicts will drive wellness in 2019, here are some that may impact your spa or massage practice this year.

Stop the stress over self-care:  Ironically, many are getting stressed from the wellness rituals and habits they have embraced.  As a result, the line between constructive self-care and pure anxiety has become blurred and social media adds the pressure.   Well+Good notes: “…the staggering number of new fitness, food, and lifestyle options to choose from—is partly to blame. New data shows that since 2015, the global wellness industry has grown 12.8 percent, from $3.7 trillion to $4.2 trillion.” People will be looking to pare down from all the fitness, beauty, and lifestyle choices that are being touted as the panacea for a healthier, happier life. They will seek to reclaim their time and simplify their health and beauty regimes.

The boom in CBD products:  With the passage of the 2018 Farm Bill making industrial hemp legal, CBD products will move the niche category to the mainstream. Among industry experts, there are expectations that the retailers, scientists, and manufacturers will be more comfortable now with CBD paving the way for more research, product innovation, and availability of new CBD products.  BIOTONE is pleased to be one of the companies at the forefront of this trend with our Lab+Blends CBD products for professional and personal care.

Check your hormones: We have a better understanding of the role of hormones in every system of the body, and their effect on everything from heart health to sleep quality, says Well+Good. Thanks to a new wave of at-home hormone testing products, consumers now have direct access to the health clues your hormones are providing. Thanks to these at-home tests, more women, in particular, are arming themselves about their physiology before going to see their doctor.

Do it yourself IV therapy:  Some folks are turning to IV drips to take in nutrients regularly. The IV drip bypasses the body’s digestive system to deliver nutrients in a more bioavailable form so that the body can put whatever is in the IV to use, fast. Well + Good says that the IV infusions have been credited with doing everything from enhancing skin’s glow to combatting jet lag, aiding muscle recovery, and improving digestion.

One-stop wellness under one roof: Millennials are mad about experiences, far more than “stuff.” That explains why they are fascinated by self-actualization, self-improvement, and community and particularly interested when they experience all these things in one place.  As a result, wellness options that enable them to seamlessly tie together their work and personal lives, such as co-working spaces with fitness programs, are on the rise. Also, facilities that provide a range of health coaches, trainers, and classes with functional medical practitioners are popping up.
