Don’t let Self-doubt Derail your Spa or Massage Practice Success

In “Believe in Yourself (And why Nothing Will Work If You Don’t…) James Clear, writer, entrepreneur and behavior science expert writes, “The biggest difference I’ve noticed between successful people and unsuccessful people isn’t intelligence or opportunity or resources. It’s the belief that they can make their goals happen.”

Sound familiar? Are there times when no matter how well things are going, you doubt your ability and strength to keep things moving ahead and to consistently make the right decisions to achieve the goals you set for your spa or massage practice? Feeling doubt at times is normal. However, if your doubt and fears start to hold you back; you need to find a way to restore your confidence and faith in yourself.

Break through Fear and Self-doubt

In “Four Ways to Beak Through Your Fear and Self Doubt,” entrepreneur and Forbes contributor, Fabienne Frederickson offers her own steps to get beyond the fear and doubt that can hold you back. She advises that you:

Take a No-excuses Approach

We tend to find reasons for not doing something. Basically, they are excuses. If you want to do something badly – achieve the goals you set for your spa or massage practice – then you either have excuses or you have results. The choice is yours.

Feel the Fear – but Do It anyway

The best way to get over fear is to walk right into it. You’ll find that walking head on into those things you fear is never as bad as you think it’s going to be. In fact, it’s liberating.

Be Willing to Stretch Beyond your Comfort Zone

Most people will do anything to avoid discomfort. If you want to achieve your goals, you’ve got to be comfortable being uncomfortable.

Take Decisive Action

Wishing won’t make things happen; taking decisive action will. When you are experiencing self-doubt, you tend to question everything, which keeps you from taking action. Frederickson calls that self-sabotage. Once you make a decision to succeed, you need to do whatever it takes to make it happen.

Keeping The Faith

Even taking the steps that Frederickson recommends, there still may be times when nagging voices in your head try to hold you back. When that happens, embrace your self-doubt. Once you embrace your doubts, you’ll find the fear will start to lift. Also when you feel self-doubt, think beyond yourself to someone else or to a cause you value. When you focus on helping someone or something else, you’ll get away from yourself, which helps you get a better perspective on your situation.

It’s only human to lose confidence or faith in yourself at some time. What do you do when you feel self-doubt starts to creep in to get yourself back on track?
