The week of the ONE Concept trifecta of conferences has finally arrived!!! The kickoff event for the interdisciplinary American Massage, Chiropractic, and Acupuncture Conferences happens Thursday, April 19th, at the Riverwalk Golf course in San Diego, CA. ONE Concept is hosting this charity golf tournament benefiting the CA chapter of the Make-A-Wish foundation to help make a young man’s wish come true.
The Wish child, 16-year-old Stephen, was diagnosed 2 years ago with stage 4 Rhabdomyosarcoma and is currently on his fourth round of treatment. This event is particularly special to the conference organizers since 2 of them have children who were themselves Wish children. This event is a way for them to pay forward the joy and peace they enjoyed when their children’s wishes were granted.

Friday will be a very busy day at the conferences, with a multitude of opportunities available to students and therapists. Therapists can meet with potential employers at the job fair. Erik Dalton has a full-day educational workshop, there are nine 3 hour workshops, including Whitney Lowe’s Ramp up Results with Active Engagement Techniques, and nine free 1 hour presentations, including my Using Mini-Wraps to Increase Session Effectiveness – the first 50 students in my class receive a Pain Proof kit from BIOTONE, so get there early!
Attendees can look forward to Friday’s free “Disciplines Unite” presentation, where industry leaders will demonstrate how they would treat a low back injury. Just to round the day off right, at 9 pm, the Facebook Meet and Greet party begins! This year’s theme is Pinups and Sailors and is sure to be one of the conference highlights, so don’t miss it!!
Saturday and Sunday don’t slow down a bit with James Waslaski teaching full-day workshops, twelve 3 hour workshops, including my The Fascial Matrix: Head Forward Postures on Saturday and Whitney Lowe’s Using Assessment to Boost Your Treatments on Sunday, and 28 free one-hour presentations!
I am excited for acupuncturists as they have the unique opportunity to attend Patrick Mummy’s presentation on Saturday! His training are sure to change the way participants think about the body. Of course, the only way to finish off such an amazing day would be with yet another epic party, including dinner and live music! This year’s ONE Concept Gala is particularly exciting for us as the founder of BIOTONE, Jean Shea, will be receiving the ONE Concept Innovation Award.
