What Clients Want in Customized Treatments

Following our series on ISPA trends, we are now going to explore customization. I've combined this trend with a recent consumer survey that indicates that menus need to become simpler. In my experience, the way to accomplish both is by listing the basic services and promote that each treatment is totally customized based on a personal consultation. In order to accomplish this effectively, we need protocols in place that ensure a consistent and simple way to provide plenty of options at a moment's notice.

A great example, and my favorite, is the basic aromatherapy wrap that utilizes BIOTONE's Hydrating Luxe masque and one of their ten Spa Complexes. You have five choices from the Therapeutic line:

  • Detox
  • Sore Muscle Relief
  • Relaxing
  • Firming
  • Uplifting

Then you have the Signature line that can be linked to the seasons (another hot trend):

  • Autumn - Pomegranate, and Cranberry
  • Winter - Milk and Honey
  • Spring - Green Tea and Lime Leaf
  • Summer - Mango and Mandarin with Lavender and Calendula

A great thing about this recipe is its multiple applications. For example, when applied to feet and/or hands and combined with heated booties/mitts, it is an excellent added value treatment. These types of enhancements improve any massage, facial, or mani/Pedi and give clients an opportunity to customize not only their treatments but their total experience. They also provide a great way to up-sell services since clients get a real sense of the benefits of coordinating full body treatment without the initial commitment.

See what I mean... simple and plenty of options.
