There has been a lot of new research into the enteric nervous system over the last 5 to 10 years, many new books written on gut health and many excellent nutrition therapists out there. However, reflecting on my personal experience over most of my life, on my 20 plus years of clinical experience and looking at many of the new insights into the gut and the enteric nervous system, I felt there was a huge missing piece. This missing piece is the emotional history stored in the gut, the way the gut responds to emotional trauma and stress and the impact that has on our digestion and our overall physical and mental health.
