What are your plans for Everybody Deserves a Massage Week?
By Jean Shea on Jun 21, 2011
Everybody Deserves a Massage Week is coming up. This year it's July 17-23. I'm a huge fan of this wonderful grassroots promotion sponsored by Associated Bodywork & Massage Professionals (ABMP). You have an opportunity to contribute to your community and raise visibility for massage therapy at the same time.
If you aren't familiar with this special week of giving, it's something I'm sure you'll want to get behind. ABMP launched the program in 2007 as a way for its members to give their time, money and effort to members of the community in need. The idea for massage therapists to give back and build strong ties within the community caught on.
The ways to get involved are endless. ABMP offers some suggestions. You can give complimentary massages while collecting cash or canned food donations for charity. Also consider offering special discounts to seniors, students, police or firefighters. Here are some activities that I've read about:
- Participate in a local health fair and offer free massage.
- Donate a massage session to be auctioned for charity.
- Offer on-site massage for telethon telephone workers.
- Offer free or discounted chair massages in public venues, such as parks, shopping malls, community events, and workplaces.
You can get a free introductory packet to the program at no cost from ABMP, along with customizable posters, banners and postcards. Call ABMP 877-208-7546 to order them.
Now is the time to plan! Let us know what you are planning to do during this week of community giving. Also, keep checking our Facebook page for a BIOTONE special to our customers for Everybody Deserves a Massage Week to help YOU give back to your community.
