Next year will be a milestone for BIOTONE. In 2014, Dual-Purpose Massage Creme will celebrate 30 years on the market. Here’s something about product lifecycles that you may not know. There are four stages: introduction, growth, maturity and decline. Some products never get past stage one. Even if a product makes it past the introduction and onto growth and maturity, its demand will invariably decline as new products emerge.
I’m delighted to say, there’s nothing text book about Dual Purpose. Since its introduction, Dual-Purpose has been one of your favorites with no indication that its popularity will decline any time soon. In fact, it continues to gain new fans every year.
I was striving for something entirely new when I combined the best features of an oil and lotion to create Dual-Purpose. But when it came to pain relief, I wanted something with a long track record of success. That’s why I chose Arnica, an ingredient that has been used for centuries to reduce inflammation.
Arnica’s Enduring Benefit
Here’s what I know about Arnica. A member of the Daisy family, it’s a bright yellow flower grows in the mountains of Europe and North America. It goes by a number of names: Arnica Montana and Leopard’s Bane are a two of them
The active ingredients of Arnica are sesquiterpene lactones, which have anti-inflammatory properties. Here’s a good explanation of the way they work to reduce pain from Livestrong.com:
“Ordinarily when an injury occurs, the body's inflammatory response works to fight infections, initiate repair of damages and clear away debris and toxins. As the inflammation progresses, however, the body's response can easily get out of hand, with the affected area becoming red, swollen, painful and hot to touch. Arnica contains compounds that can modulate the inflammatory response and help dissipate trapped blood and fluid in injured muscles, tissues and joints. It can diminish bruising, as well.”
