Help your Clients have a Truly Memorable and Relaxing Summer "staycation"
By Jean Shea on Aug 10, 2010
August is traditionally the big vacation month. For families, it's the month to get away with the kids before they go back to school. With continued uncertainty about the economy, however, a "staycation" is the popular new way to get that much needed break.
Folks everywhere are finding new things to do in their hometown and even right in their neighborhoods. They are spending more time at museums, the parks, local hiking trails or just staying home and reading a book (probably on their new Kindle or Nook). It's all about relaxation, regenerating and de-stressing and the good part about staycations is that you don't need to spend time or money booking hotels and plane reservations - activities which in and of themselves can be stressful.
All this means you have the perfect opportunity to increase your business among staycation-minded clients and prospects looking for new ways to relax. For current clients who are saving money by spending their vacations at home, offer a new treatment like Summer Citrus Squeeze or trying out an additional massage.
Think about new ways to promote your services that engage more couples or even encourage parents to introduce their kids to massage this summer. Pediatric massage is becoming more popular and working with the whole family is a very natural extension of our business. Maybe you want to tie in a day at the spa with a theme. Here are some special August holidays:
- August 11 is "Play in the Sand Day" so you might want to consider a day at the beach theme.
- August 15 is National Relaxation Day
- August 21 is International Homeless Animal Day so you might want to work with a local rescue group or shelter to have a special adoption fair at your spa and information on how to introduce a new pet into your home.
And there are many more, check them out here.
Whatever you come up with, staycationers can't help but appreciate that a relaxing and soothing opportunity is conveniently right at their fingertips through your fingertips and they don't have to pack a thing!
