Gain Clarity for your Personal Life and running your Spa and Massage Practice

Are you thinking about next year and wondering what direction to go? No matter how well things are going with your spa or massage practice and in your personal life, it’s natural – and healthy – to question if you are satisfied with the status quo. Often you feel the need for some change but aren’t sure what it should be.

Getting clarity about making a change in your personal or professional life is not necessarily easy. You may never that “aha moment” when your vision becomes crystal clear. Sometimes you need to allow yourself time and ask yourself questions to help identify a direction and get there. Here are some questions to help you uncover your vision for our stage or move in your life from “What is Your Vision? Get Clarity Through These 7 Big Questions.

ASK YOURSELF:

What is your dream, and what is important to you about it? It could be that you want to achieve something because of societal or familial pressures. Knowing why your dream is important will help you better understand what you truly want.

What would someone say about you at your 80th birthday party? Imagine yourself at a party celebrating your 80th birthday. What would someone else say about you and your achievements? Write out the speech with a particular person in mind.

If you had a year off, what would you do? If you had all the time and money to take off a year and do exactly what you wanted, what would that be?

Write a 500-year business plan: Sound odd? The idea is to write a plan about your spa or massage practice that would enable it to endure even after you are gone. This will help you decide what direction you want to take your business, whether it’s into new treatment areas or types of massage, both of which might require additional training.

Imagine in 20 Years:
  • what you want to have
  • what you want to do
  • who you want to be

Try Journaling

While you are pondering these questions – and give yourself time to answer them – you also may want to take up journaling. You can jot down your thoughts relative to these questions and others. Journaling helps you identify things that are troubling you and work through options to resolve them. Journaling can help you can gain perspective on your successes and challenges in reaching your dreams or vision. You also can use your journal to record comments from others that provide insight on issues you are grappling with. Getting what you really want and knowing how to direct your life can take time and reflection. Don’t rush it. Take all the time you need.
